The day after Christmas, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton sent out an email to her supporters thanking them for their support and telling them that she looked “forward to staying in touch in 2017.”
Clinton, who lost to President-elect Donald Trump last month despite most polls predicting that she would win easily, acknowledged that the election didn’t end how they all wanted. The former Secretary of State also seemed to be not-too-subtly pointing out that she won the national popular vote over Trump by nearly 3 million.
“While we didn’t achieve the outcome we sought,” Clinton wrote. “I’m proud of the vision and values we fought for and the nearly 66 million people who voted for them.”
She continued, “I believe it is our responsibility to keep doing our part to build a better, stronger, and fairer future for our country and the world.”
Clinton has kept a pretty low public profile over the past few weeks since losing the election to Trump. Earlier this month, she held a party for her biggest donors and expressed anger over the allegations that Russia and Vladimir Putin were involved in hacking during the campaign.
